Chair of trustee board – Laura Whateley
Born in South Africa and having spent time in Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia, Laura has a keen interest in African development. She studied Marine Biology at Liverpool University and at the University of Bath where she qualified as a teacher. She has worked in Education as a classteacher, leader and governor in this country for over 10 years and is currently Headteacher for a Primary school in London. Her passion for education goes beyond the UK classroom. The empowerment education brings is one of the key reasons for her involvement with Positive Women.

Dr Hilary Moore
Hilary Moore has a PhD in Anthropology of Music and is currently doing an MBA at Cass Business School. She works for Canning, a communication training company for international businesses. She has lived in several different countries, including Malawi and Swaziland. In Swaziland, she worked as a volunteer teacher for a year and this experience has left her with a passion for Africa and a strong desire to help the women and children of Swaziland.

Bambos Charalambous
Bambos was trained as a lawyer and currently works at Hackney Council where he has been employed for 13 years. He is a councillor in Enfield and is a former parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party.

Marverine Cole
Marverine Cole is a freelance TV & Radio Presenter. A former Sky News presenter – broadcasting to hundreds of thousands of viewers around the world on World News & Business Report. Before that she honed her skills as an ‘on-the-ground’ journalist working, as a TV and Radio reporter and presenter with both ITV and BBC regional news in Birmingham.

Alexandra Kurn
Alexandra is Managing Director of the Executive Search at Harris Hill recruitment where she has worked for 3 years. A background in marketing, Alexandra brings a wealth of skills including marketing, communication and business strategy.
