Our programmes are clear and focussed on meeting the needs of the poorest communities in Swaziland. Positive Women supports -
- Send an Orphan to School
HIV/AIDS is having a devastating effect on communities in Swaziland. With the highest infection rate of any country in the world Swaziland needs help in supporting children who are left to fund themselves. According to international figures, Swaziland has the third highest proportion of orphans of any African country.
At Positive Women we support an orphan education programme. Getting young orphans into education can dramatically improve their life chances. From just £5 a month you can sponsor a child to go to primary school. Simply download this Send a Child to School Standing order form and email it to info@positivewomen.org
- Empower a Woman to help herself
It’s not easy being a women in Swaziland. With few rights and little respect women are completely disempowered from stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS or supporting their families. Women are without property rights, often unable to go to school or work or even see a Doctor without the permission of their husbands. Women have no financial independence or security.
At Positive Women, we believe in giving people a hand up not a hand out and our programmes are designed to support women looking to set up small businesses and enterprises. We’re already helping women gain the financial freedom they need to secure a better future for themselves and their families. By simply donating to Positive Women you can help us fund income generating projects, specifically for women – candle making, weaving, sewing and agricultural projects.
- Support Positive Women to do more
Positive Women is about supporting and championing women led organisations in Africa. Starting in Swaziland we want to make sure that these organisations get the sustainable funding they need to continue to save lives and challenge extreme poverty. Particularly in countries where women’s rights are non existent, their funding is extremely volatile and often reduced. We cannot make real progress unless these types of organisations have sustainable, long term funding.
